Folks,

As many of you may know this is my son Leland's team.  My son, 22 is autistic and wanted to enjoy playing as I do in many of these other leagues.  Today for the second time my son had a bit of a meltdown do to an owner rep remanding my son.  I must say that I'm sure he didn't know that he was actually addressing a handicapped child but that still doesn't excuse the fact that he was abrasive and his remarks were actually uncalled for.  My son had wanted a player who hasn't played this year yet and thought that by offering the next highest draft pick that it would be a reasonable offer.  Whether it was or wasn't a reasonable offer is actually irrelevant.  Frankly, all that was required of the other owner was to merely reject the offer (period).  Instead he wanted to voice his discontent and make his position clear.  He can be dissatisfied as he wants, that's his choice but has NO right imposing his position on others!  So far the additional medication obtained today is approximately $400 and needs to be administered for 3 days.  I will not expose my son to people who have absolutely no class.  I don't care whether my son has an unusual situation or not, there are no requirements to be a member in this program nor does ANYONE have the right to discipline any other owner.  I will take over this team for the remaining year.  If you have another interested owner please feel free to have Kirk take over this team next year.

Below are is a recap of his discussion -

WOW, Daniel.  Thanks for the offer.  But, that's VERY unfair to you.  Why don't we make it:  Brees, Lynch, Torain, and Donnie Avery.  For your 2008, Round 3 pick.  This is #1 for YOU, by the way.  What that means is this:  I always allow an Owner to give me 1, and only 1, BS offer.  This is your 1.  If I receive another BS offer from you, then we will NEVER do business.  EVER!!!!!

Have a nice day.

My wife and I were the ones that responded.  We did NOT know that it was a handicapped individual to whom we were responding.  We apologize to that person.

However, my wife and I are in a number of leagues and have been for a number of years.  In our opionion, the normal procedure when beginning the trade process, is for the other owner to make a BS offer.  My wife and I do not like to go that way and consider that type of offer as an INSULT.  And that's EXACTLY what we considered a 2009, Round 2 pick, for Torain, as being--an INSULT.  Regardless as to whom made us the offer, we still consider it as being an insult.  We voiced our displeasure and do NOT apologize for that.

Since you "Broadcasted" your feelings, then we are going to respond to that.  Apparently, your child functions at a much higher level than the majority of Autistic children.  Thank goodness for that and we are very happy for you.  It also appears that you have entrusted your child with the opportunity to learn to function on his own by giving him a FF team and allowing him to make the decisions as to whom to draft and whom to trade.  Unfortunately, with that decision making power, comes "good" decisions and "bad" decisions, and "good" responses and "bad" responses.  It seems to me that, if you expect your son to someday function on his own as a individual in society, then he also needs to learn the consequences of bad decisions.

Please note that there was absolutely NO PROFANITY included in our response.  May I suggest that next time, instead of bringing it out into the open, you might send an E-Mail, requesting a response as to why the other party might consider the offer to be a poor one, so that your son can understand why he got the response that he did.

ONE LAST THING!!!  Your son really hasn't done too badly.  So, EXACTLY, whose idea is it to quit???  Him or YOURS?????  I'm betting that it's yours.

This is the ONE and ONLY response that either Jane or I intend to make.

Mashies--Jim/Jane
