In a Super Bowl title fight for the ages...

Bob Wins!!!

 

The final score only begins to tell the tale of this knock-down, drag-out fight.  Terry was ahead going into Sunday night and it looked like Bob's decision to start Justin Gage and bench (his boy) Willie Parker was going to hurt him, but Philip Rivers rode in and put in a nice score while the Chargers D held Eddie Royal to 7.6 points.  If only Terry had started David Akers (who scored 20 points off of 4 FG and 5 XPs against the Cowboys).  

Congratulations to Terry and Bob...it was a great game.

Congratulations to Terry on winning the Survivor Pool, the Pool Picks, and going 16-1.

Congratulations to Jeremy J for holding off Tom's late charge in the "best of the rest" championship.

The last couple weeks of this season have been great.  I'm looking forward to the playoffs. It should be a great culmination to a wonderful season...possibly the best overall NFL season in my memory.

(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Dec 28, 2008) In a week 17 Fairfield Friends Fantasy Football League matchup, Bob's Terrible Towels squeaked by a tough Terry's Tornadoes team by a score of 131.9 to 126.6, extending the losing streak for Terry's Tornadoes to 13 games.

Bob's Terrible Towels were led to their 5.3 point victory by a 33.5 point effort from Steven Jackson, who beat the Atlanta Falcons defense for 161 rushing yards and 2 rushing tds in addition to 54 receiving yards. With this performance, Jackson was the number 2 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 17. They also got help from a 29.0 point effort from Larry Fitzgerald, who beat the Seattle Seahawks defense for 130 receiving yards and 2 receiving tds.

"I'm happy I could make a contribution," Bob's Terrible Towels coach Bob Byrnes said.

Terry's Tornadoes were helped out in a losing cause by a 29.9 point effort from Aaron Rodgers, who beat the Detroit Lions defense for 308 passing yards and 3 passing tds. With this performance, Rodgers was the number 2 ranked quarterback for week 17. They also got help from a 24.2 point effort from Calvin Johnson, who beat the Green Bay Packers defense for 102 receiving yards and 2 receiving tds.

"We weren't mentally prepared," Terry's Tornadoes coach Terry Hayes said.

Adding salt to the wound, Terry's Tornadoes could have scored 154.3 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Terry Hayes left key players like David Akers and his corresponding 20.0 points on the bench.

Terry's Tornadoes drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 29 out of 30 other potential opponents in week 17.

This brings the record for Bob's Terrible Towels to 9-4, and drops Terry's Tornadoes to a record of 13-0.
